WHAT WE DID

Usually, after selecting a vehicle in the Year-Make-Model selector, there are two options where the user gets redirected: 1) search results; 2) category selection page. First Place Auto Parts sells lots of products, so it was reasonable to offer their customers to narrow down the search results by selecting a category first. The store has two levels - category and subcategory. Users can choose to look through all products in the category (e. g. Brake System) or reduce search results to the subcategory (e. g. Brake Lines).

First Place Auto Parts has a prominent garage at the top menu. Users can select several vehicles and switch back and forth while shopping.

Product listings feature a Verify Fitment widget. Shoppers who get to the product listing from the home page, and have already selected a vehicle in the year-make-model lookup, will see the same vehicle in the widget. If users get to the page from any other place (referral link, promotional email, Google results, etc.), they can check the part fitment directly on the product page.

The other way users can check the fitment when they land on the product page is a Fitment Compatibility table. It’s shown in the description information but generated by Convermax search. So, the First Place Auto Parts website manager can edit descriptions as many times as they need and it won’t influence the fitment data.

What we also integrated into the fpautoparts.com website are YMM-based product recommendations. They are placed on the product page under the description box. Recommendations are generated for the last vehicle selected in the year-make-model lookup.

First Place Auto Parts decided on a special type of navigation. After a user selects a vehicle in the YMM lookup on the main page, he or she will be redirected to the Mini Store page of this particular vehicle. It’s a fitment-specific landing page. Such pages can feature extra content about the vehicle, categories, and most popular products for a selected car. Mini Store pages are also useful for different marketing goals (email promotions, PPC campaigns, etc.).
