Search Engine Improvements and New Features
[1] Improved Search Results Ranking
We have improved how products are ranked in the search results so that the most relevant products appear at the top, regardless of whether your shoppers have selected a vehicle or not.
Previously, our search engine prioritized products based on their fitment data. Sometimes it led to some exact-match products being buried in search results because they lacked fitment data. As a result, users who started their shopping journey by typing a brand name or part number sometimes couldn’t find the right items. It is no longer the case.
What’s changed?
We upgraded the boosting logic. From now on, products with fitment data are boosted only when a vehicle is selected. After this update:
When no vehicle is selected: we rank products based on their relevance to the search query.
When a vehicle is selected: products that are either a confirmed fit or universal fit will be boosted, helping shoppers find parts that fit their vehicle.
Why does it matter?
Our search engine serves all categories of clients. Whether your customers start their shopping journey by selecting their car or simply typing a query, they will find the products they need.
[2] Brands are now ranked by revenue.
For stores on Shopify and Shift4Shop, brands can now be sorted by actual sales performance. The top-selling brands in your store appear first in both the logo carousel and the filter panel. They will be the first to catch your shoppers' attention.
By default, the top 10 brands are shown first, but this number can be easily customized.
This feature is now live for Shopify stores that have granted us access to order data. If you don’t see changes in brand sorting, ensure that all required permissions are enabled in the Shopify app.
For Shift4Shop stores, the feature is not enabled by default. To activate it, reach out to our support team — we'll help you.
[3] Search by Wheel and Tire Update
Our search engine now supports staggered fitments. This feature helps your shoppers find only those wheel or tire packages that match both the front and rear specifications of their vehicle. This feature is available for all stores using DriveRightData or Fitment Group as a data source.
Now, when users select Year, Make, and Model, in the search results, they see only those products that fit either both positions or have separate front & rear options. They won’t get confusing or mismatched product options. Also, we’re planning to upgrade this feature further. For instance, we’re working on custom filtering options.
[4] Searchable Selectors in the Year-Make-Model Lookup
This isn’t a brand-new feature, but we’ve noticed many of our clients haven’t discovered it yet — you can enable text search inside the YMM widget!
When your YMM dropdowns include a long list of options, instead of scrolling, your customers can simply start typing the make, model, or year they’re looking for and quickly find a match.
If you'd like to activate this feature in your store, just reach out to our support team.
[5] Filters in Autocomplete Suggestions
Merchants can now enable filters in the autocomplete suggestions. It means when a shopper starts typing in the search bar, they won’t just see product suggestions. They’ll also see filter options, like matching Categories, Brands, or other attributes. With one click, they’re redirected to the filtered results.
[6] Search by License Plate
With the new feature, instead of typing Year, Make, and Model, shoppers can simply enter their state and license plate number and get search results tailored for their vehicle. Now your customers can choose the most convenient way to shop for parts at the moment.
How it works:
The search engine converts the license plate into a VIN.
The VIN is decoded into the vehicle’s Year-Make-Model.
Fitment Editor Updates
[1] Fitment Editor is Now Live Inside the BigCommerce App!
BigCommerce merchants can now edit fitments directly from their stores’ admin panel — no need to leave the app and manage vehicle data in other sources. The Fitment Editor is great for dealing with tasks such as:
Adding fitment data to products that previously had none.
Enhancing or correcting imported fitment data from external sources.
With Fitment Editor, you can:
add new vehicles,
add and edit notes,
delete fitment data,
apply universal fitment.
If you’re not satisfied with the results, click “Reset to Original Fitments”, and it will delete any manually added fitment applications, restoring the original fitment data (if other sources have been connected).
How to Access It:
In your BigCommerce admin, navigate to Products and select a product where you want to change the fitment data. Click the three dots next to it, scroll to the bottom, and click “Open Fitment Editor” in the Convermax app section.
Fitment Editor is available right after app installation. If you’re already using the app, the feature has been added automatically — no extra steps needed.
We’re actively working on making fitment management easier for merchants. If you have any suggestions for additional features, please don't hesitate to reach out!
[2] Match products by additional specs inside the Fitment Editor
Merchants can now match products to vehicles using additional specifications — such as Bolt Pattern, Spark Plug, Chain Size, or other custom fields — by simply editing them inside the app. It’s an indirect fitment.
Here’s how it works:
You add an extra info field to a vehicle inside the Editor.
If a product has the same value as the field, that vehicle is automatically added as a fitment.
Even if a vehicle has multiple specs, only one needs to match for the fitment to be assigned.
With this update, merchants can remove tedious, manual tasks. Instead of mapping vehicles to every new product, they only define the key spec that influences fitment. Then the Fitment Editor will automatically apply the correct vehicle data to the product.
It’s also easy to extend a product’s fitment to 2026. Just update the vehicle inside the Fitment Editor, and the fitment will apply to all products matching the key spec.
Example:
You sell wheels. You know that wheel with a 6x135mm bolt pattern fits the 2019-2025 Ford F-150. You edit the vehicle’s fields inside the Fitment Editor. All products in your store with this bolt pattern attribute automatically get this vehicle added as a fitment.
Shopify App Experience
[1] We’ve updated the Convermax app for Shopify, so merchants can preview in real time the way search elements work while customizing your store. Previously, our widgets didn’t display correctly in the Shopify theme editor. Instead, we showed different placeholders, making it tricky for our customers to visualize how their store would look. Now all widgets function perfectly inside the theme editor, ensuring a better experience with our app.
[2] Adding a Garage via the Shopify App got easier.
Shopify now allows apps to place widgets directly in the header group, and we updated our app so that users can easily add the Garage block. Previously, you could only add the Garage widget manually to the store’s theme liquid files. But no more code edits! Just drag and drop it where you want to display it.
❗Note:
1) Garage placement depends on your theme’s layout. Theme developers determine where widgets can be added.
2) While generic Shopify themes support adding app blocks to the header group, most of the custom themes may not.
[3] “Frequently Bought Together” app block
We’ve added a new app block — Bought Together — that merchants can add to their store layout inside the Theme Editor. It is designed to help merchants increase the average order value and enhance the shopping experience for their customers. Based on your store’s order history, the widget displays products that are commonly purchased together. You can customize the number of products displayed — from 1 to 10 (the default is 5). Users can instantly add all suggested products to their cart with a single click, making it easier for them to purchase all the items they need for repair works.
[4] Define Your Category Filter Source in the App
We’ve made it easier for merchants to tailor their category filters! You can now select the source for the Category filter directly inside the Shopify app. Depending on how you want to structure the category filter, you can choose to build it from these sources:
Collections
Navigation menu
Turn14 Categories (if this fitment source is connected).
Or choose all of them at once.
Follow the guide here: https://docs.convermax.com/shopify/additional-features/configuring-the-category-and-subcategory-filter/.
[5] Choose Pagination Type
Merchants now have the freedom to control how products are displayed on their search pages — no support ticket required. You can choose between two options: infinite scroll or classic pagination. To do so, open Theme Editor, choose Convermax among App embeds, and select the option you prefer.
New Tools
[1] npm package update
We’ve expanded our npm package functionality, making it more flexible and providing more control for development teams. Now it can pull fitment data, supports optional pagination parameters, and allows loading results page-by-page.
Explore the documentation here.
Let us know what other features you’d like to see next in our npm package!
[2] ACES to CSV Converter
If you haven’t checked out our ACES to CSV Converter yet, you can do it here. We build it so that you can edit fitment data without touching the code. Just upload your ACES XML file and get a clean, editable CSV.
[3] Revamped Wheel and Tire Fitment Data Template
We first introduced this template in a previous release, but in the past month, we improved it significantly, making it more convenient for merchants to work with. Every wheel and tire merchant can use this template to easily manage fitment data for their store.
We removed unnecessary fields, so now adding new options only requires tire and wheel size. Also, the Submodel is not required; you need to enter only Year, Make, and Model.
With this template, you can override wrong fitments with the right ones. For instance, sometimes FitmentGroup and DriveRightData return inaccurate bore and bolt pattern. Via this spreadsheet, you can correct that information.
[4] Convermax Tools Installation Guide
To make managing your store easier, we’ve prepared a step-by-step guide for installing Convermax tools. It includes setup instructions, quick actions, and hotkeys.

Convermax Team Retreat in Turkey
Even though our headquarters are in Barcelona, our team is spread across different parts of Europe. Zoom calls can’t replace sharing a meal or walking the same streets. So, for a rare and special occasion, we all come together in one place.
This summer, nearly the whole team gathered in Çeşme, Turkey. For 10 days, we explored Turkish culture, tasted incredible food, and immersed ourselves in the region’s ancient history. But more importantly, we strengthened our connections and left feeling stronger united as a team.
