Get filters integrated with Shopify Metafields

Since the newest Shopify update, Convermax has another way of building product filters and auto parts fitment search - by using Shopify metafields. For store managers, it means that they can define metafields and create attributes for their products. Convermax will then build filters based on them.

Metafields helps merchants put extra information on products, variants, collections. If merchants want to add extra attributes to product listings, metafields are the fastest way to do so.

To create a metafield, you need to go to your store dashboard settings. There you will ding metafields. In case you want to add fitment or attributes to your product listings, click “Product” and “Add definition”.

Then choose a product where you want to add extra information and start editing. You can define the metafield in a dedicated section at the end of the product page.

Auto parts merchants can add vehicle fitments via metafields as well.

Previously, we used only Shopify REST API to index products. REST API only allows requesting metafields for one product at a time. The number of requests is limited, so it is an OKAY process if the store has a few hundred products, but inconvenient if there are hundreds of thousands of them. Now Convermax can also use Shopify GraphQL API to index a store’s product listings. It allows us to request metafields of all products in one file, and then build filters on its basis. You can choose what option is best for your store.
